“Wonder Woman” is being boycotted because of Gal Gadot’s Israeli military service

Some people are not too thrilled about former Israeli soldier Gal Gadot starring in a major Hollywood film.

Lebanon has banned Wonder Woman from being screened in the country while a similar ban is being proposed in Jordan.

“We remind the Jordanians of their obligation to boycott the film, and we refuse to be partners to the crimes of the Zionists and to increase their profits from this film. The Arab audience will not be involved in projects that represent Zionism and the Israeli army,” said a Jordanian boycott group.

Others took to the internet to criticize the film.

Gadot publicly expressed her support on Facebook for the Israeli military during the 2014 war in Gaza.

Some American commentators on Fox News seemed disappointed that an American was not cast as Wonder Woman.

Neil Cavuto claimed that her costume was not red, white and blue “in order to appeal for foreign audiences.”

Another commentator, Dion Baia, agreed with his sentiment.

“I think, nowadays, sadly, money trumps patriotism,” he said. “Especially, recently, I personally feel like we’re not really very patriotic, the country, in a certain sense. They want these movies to succeed internationally, so they’re going to dial back.”

Actually, Diana Prince is an Amazonian warrior princess sent down by the gods who probably would have been considered an illegal immigrant.

But despite the outcry, Wonder Woman has been an international success, grossing $223 million in its opening weekend, surpassing the earnings of Batman v. Superman, The Dark Night Rises, Man of Steel and Suicide Squad.
